Croft Team

Preview

A private team space with your own name, an admin who decides who joins, and sending limits sized for a team. Messages stay end-to-end encrypted: the project cannot read them.

Where this stands. Croft Team is not open yet: no business keys are being issued during the alpha.

What a team gets

  • A team space on your own address (yourname.croftmessaging.com, or your own name pointed at it), with its own signing key and its own storage.
  • A seat on a computer alone. A person with no Android phone joins with an admin's invitation in Croft Plus on their computer (Croft PC), checks their number once, and takes a seat from the team. They chat with the people who approve their computer.
  • Invitations, not shared codes. After the first member (the admin), a person joins only with an invitation from an admin. An admin can invite up to 25 people at once, name them, remove them, let a removed person back, and appoint more admins.
  • A Team page on the phone and on the computer: seats and use, invitations, members, who was removed, a recent-activity list and invoices. The computer asks the admin's phone to sign every change.
  • Leavers cut off at once: removing a person stops every device on their number.
  • Larger limits, shared by the team: five times the daily writes and data of a personal plan per device, and four times the speed.
  • Groups of up to 100 people (25 for other plans). A person has to be a Croft contact of the others for a group to be sealed.
  • Renewal emails to the accounts address, 14, 7 and 1 days before the plan ends.
  • Your brand: your name on the team space. Showing your colours and logo in the apps is planned.

Getting started

  1. 1Agree the details: a short name (letters, digits, hyphens), the text that shows as your brand, an accent colour, the owner's name and number, and how many people.
  2. 2We set up your team space and give the owner a key for the admin's phone.
  3. 3The admin installs Croft Messaging and Croft Plus, enters the key in Croft Plus (Plan, with the business name or address), and checks the mobile number.
  4. 4The admin invites the team from the Team page. Each person installs the apps and enters their invitation.

A work phone can be locked to Business with an owner PIN in Croft Contacts, Settings, Work phone lock.

What is not built yet

  • Paying online and automatic invoices.
  • Your colours and logo drawn in the apps.
  • Groups of thousands, a shared business inbox, retention rules and legal hold.
  • A business holding its own root key.
