Croft Pickup
Available nowSomeone on Croft Plus sent you a message, a picture, a video or a PDF that a text cannot carry. Croft Pickup is the free plan of Croft Plus on your computer. It shows what Croft people send to your phone number, in a messages list like any other. You can read it all, free, always. You cannot reply from Pickup.
You do not need Croft Plus on a phone. Your own texts still arrive on your phone as always.
How it works
- 1Install Croft Plus on your Windows or Linux computer. It is free, and Pickup is part of it.
- 2Open Croft Plus. It opens on a short setup: choose Croft Pickup. It is the free plan, and the same app covers Croft PC and the full Croft Plus.
- 3Type your mobile number and a friend's. The friend is someone who uses Croft Plus and has your number saved. They press Approve in the app, and we text you a link to confirm the number is yours. No codes to type. No friend on Croft Plus? A text and six digits work too.
- 4From then on, everything sent to your number with Croft Plus appears in your messages list, with pictures and video in the conversation. Files are kept in a folder called Croft Pickup.
What it will and will not do
- It is read only: you see messages and files, and you cannot reply or send. Croft PC, $12 a year, lets you reply from a computer.
- It never opens a file by itself.
- Only pictures, video, sound and PDF documents are kept.
- Your number is checked by a text from your own phone, so nobody else can register it. It is checked again once a year.
- One computer holds a number. A second computer can take it over after a day, and the first is told and can say no.
- In a Croft-only group, a Pickup member reads the messages there but cannot answer.
- Remove it any time. Delete my service gives the number up.
Help shows how to remove it. To reply from a computer, see Plans.
